I'm interested in studying entrepreneurship. What can you tell me about it?
- You basically control your own destiny and create the opportunities to own your business. You really become your own boss in this industry. You set your goals and decide what you want to do with everything.
From your perspective, what could I study that would be significant to other people?
- Communication and listening skills are most important because you need to be able to communicate with your customers and your team. Marketing and finance courses are also really important to take.
Who else would you recommend I talk to?
- Anyone who runs a successful business. You should hear about the mistakes that they made and try not to repeat them. Even talking to people with failed businesses could help show you what not to do. It's important to talk to as many people as you can in this industry.
What kinds of places or activities do you recommend I do for the service learning requirement?
- I think that being in the hospitality business, like restaraunts or hotels, will help you learn people skills which is very important when beginning your own business.
What books should I read in this field? What other resources can you recommend?
- Life experiences are the only resource I could recommend. I just went into the entrepreneurial world with the help of my friends. I never read a how-to book or anything of the sort. I was just determened and didn't fear rejection.
Why did you decide to start your own business?
- It actually started off as a tax write off, but as the car wash began to expand, it became more of passion to see what I could accomplish on my own.
Where do you think your business is going to end up?
- It's turned out to be a very profitable business and now the possibilities are endless. I can't even imagine where else this business will take me. We've already put our name out there and set up at different locations. Only time will tell where else the business will be.
